°Õ³ó±ðÌýMinor in Women, Gender and Sexuality StudiesÌýis an interdisciplinary course of study that incorporates a broad range of liberal arts activities – reading, writing, thinking and discussion – in order to teach a fuller understanding of the embodied lives of people.

Students in the program seek to explore the ways that gender and sexuality are affected by factors such as race, class, religion, age, region, historical period, political and economic structures, cultural contexts and social systems. The curriculum balances academic rigor with emphasis on social justice and community.

  • History of women and LGBTQIA+ people and movements
  • Social construction of gender, sex and sexuality
  • Discrimination, privilege and systemic inequality
  • Intersectionality
  • Analytical frameworks including feminist, queer and disability theories
  • Transnational feminisms

Minoring in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies does not dictate a career but instead emphasizes a valuable skill set: critical reading, analytical thinking, investigative reflection and leadership in matters of diversity.
