Doing well academically is only one aspect of succeeding in college. Students also need to feel connected to the University and the surrounding area to flourish. Through the Success Scholars program, students will be part of a community of over 300 first-generation and/or underrepresented peers on campus. To help feel more connected to this community and to ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å, students will have a variety of opportunities to choose from. Beyond the events the Success Scholar program provides, theÌýÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å calendarÌýis a good resource to stay on top of events and important dates throughout the semester.

Peer Mentoring - SPEARs

SPEARs (Spartan Peer Educating About Resources) are students’ primary point of contact with the Success Scholars program. All of the SPEARs are current ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å students and understand first-hand what it takes to be successful in college. They help connect participants to resources, provide one-on-one guidance and host events to help scholars stay connected.

Are you interested in serving as a SPEAR or graduate student worker to students in the Success Scholars program? We hire SPEARs every fall and spring semester so be sure to checkÌý.

Office Events

Each month the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offers a large-scale event that ALL Scholars are invited to attend. These events often include food, guest speakers and prize giveaways. Be sure to register for upcoming events on InvolveÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å through the MyÂÌÅ«Ì컨°åampa portal.Ìý
