All ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å student researchers are encouraged to complete the free online training through theÌýÌýon Responsible Conduct of Research. First create an account and then search for the course under the Add a Course link.
Chemical and Laboratory Safety
Students who are conducting research in a laboratory or studio setting should familiarize themselves with the relevantÌýsafety protocols, including what to do in the event of an accident.
Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board (IRB)Ìýat ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å is responsible for approving studies done by ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å faculty, staff or students that involve human participants. The IRB is comprised of five University members from across the colleges and one outside member.
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)Ìýis a federally mandated committee that is in place to ensure the proper and ethical use of all non-human vertebrate animals in the classroom and research facilities at ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å. ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å-IACUC follows policies required by the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) of the Public Health Service and will oversee that all work with non-human vertebrates comply with the Animal Welfare Act and Public Health Service policy. Any ÂÌÅ«Ì컨°å faculty or staff planning to use non-human vertebrate animals in their research or teaching must submit an application for use of vertebrate animals. All approved applications are valid for three years, assuming no changes are made to the approved procedures.
